Travelling is a nature for us |
We never stay in one place as we need to go from place to place, either for work, to hometown, to visit family and just a journey of holidays. The things is, we cannot avoid from travelling. Sometimes, traveling held us on difficluties to perform our prayers. The Prophet PBUH used to shorten his prayer during travel and never prayed any four-unit prayer while in a state of travel. (Ibn Taymiyya, Majmūʾ al-Fatāwā, 24/8).
Islam is easy, Islam never burden its umat. Therefore, Allah has grant us Qasar and Jamak
The condition of being a musafir are:
- Traveling at least 90km distance
- Not staying more than 4 days to the intended place
- Niat of musafir is for good purpose
*Musafir do not have to perform solat Jumaat IF they depart before fajr and before sunset.
Zaiton Khadari wrote in according to Mazhad al-Syafi'e; if you are traveling on Friday and depart before fajr, then you are not wajib to perform solat Jumaat. HOWEVER, if the traveler travels for more than 4 days (not including the day in and out of the place), therefore they are WAJIB to perform solat Jumaat.
We musafir can perform solat jamak or solat qasar or solat jamak & qasar. What are the differences? Read the next post!
